I used SUPER to convert a rmvb file to mpeg II. I then use the mpeg II file as the input to TMPGEncDVD Author 1.6 to create DVD. I selected video bitrate of 1152 on Super and the conversion was completed with no problem. However when I use the output mpeg II file on TMD Author, it complained that the Video bitrate 104857 kbps is too high for a standard DVD.
I thought 1152 I selected is well below the 9800 limit of DVD. Any idea what's wrong ?

just ignore error

@ 1152 kbps, I think you'd be better off with mpg1, basically VCD specs mpg.

At this low of a bitrate, you should also not use full height DVD resolution but use a VCD type resolution of either 352x240 (NTSC) or 352x288 (PAL).
Most likely in your case Super did not correctly write the output header information when it converted your file. The commercial Teco Bitrate Viewer at http://www.tecoltd.com could be used to change the header, but I'm not sure that it's worth buying it just to do this on one file. I also don't know if TMPGenc DVD Author will let you ignore the warning or not. -
Thanks for the qick response. The original rmvb file is VCD or less quality anyway so I am not sure increasing the bitrate will make it any better. I have to put as much as I can onto a DVD without much reduction in quality from original. So I am using 352X240 and 1152 bitrate which I think is VCD quality. lI am not sure if TMD Auther will take mpeg1 as input for building DVD but I'll try.
I understand that I can ignore the error. But I just worry that if the file is actually having a bitrate of 104857 (I doubt very much) and it will not play on a standard player. I want to be sure before I create the DVD. I am sending the DVD to a friend oversea where basic DVD player is already considered luxury item. Is there any software that can examine the output file to see what the actual bitrate is ? I saw in another entry that the bitrate detected by TMD Author may just be some data in the header and not the actual bitrate. -

I don't know if you have to use AC3 with MPEG-1 or not, but Scenarist demanded it. Most authoring programs won't accept MPEG-1 video for DVD, but they should according to the specs. DVDLab has also been reported to accept MPEG-1 video for DVD creation.
