  1. I got me a camcorder and a Tekram Firewire card. Now I wanted to record stuff onto Harddisk. Do I need any special software for it? I have Virtual Dub here, but I dont know how to get the firewire line-in, and then VD seems to have no codecs for it. Is there a Freeware program for DV-recording via Firewire? THANKS

  2. Try DVIO (mcarr.eecs.umich.edu/dvio/) or the EditStudio Trial from Puremotion (www.puremotion.com/downloads/index.htm) which includes a free capture tool.

You can use DVApp from DirectX SDK too. This one gives many options for capturing, but you must provide a codec (I'm using the free adaptec codec)
