Hi, Im at a loss where i cant find any ridata go4s dvd-r 4x (white top manually printable) nowhere.
Now i have looked through the dvdmedia list here but cant really seem to find a reliable dvd-r 4x media for my projects.
I have a fairly old sony dru 500a burner and before i made this post i just ran into some ritek go4 rotting rants that scared me to look at my 200 or so pile of ritek go4s.
In the dvd media list i usually tend to go with the most popular and most commented to have the most compatible with my burner.
I cant find them dvdrs and dunno if i want them now that ive read them few rants.
I almost went with buying a stack of ritek go5s but i read a few times they are less reliable especially with a sony dru 500a.
I have one disk left and dunno which media to get.
Anyone have any experience with dvd-rs for a dru 500a? Preferably media that is suited for data, video and audio storage?
Thanks in advance.

Just buy some VERBATIM dvd media or upgrade and buy a new dvd burner which is very inexpensive these days at $30.00.

Stick with Verbatim 16x DVD-R discs. They usually come in a package that looks like this:
You can often find the Verbatim 16x DVD-R discs on sale at either BEST BUY or OFFICE MAX. Even the regular price ain't all that bad though.
The next choice is to buy Taiyo Yuden 8x DVD-R discs. These burn great at 4x speed although so do the Verbatim discs. You can buy Taiyo Yuden at RIMA.COM at a price point that is cheaper than the Verbatim discs when not on sale but not as cheap as when the Verbatim discs are on sale.
Anyways those are the two best DVD-R discs and both will burn A-OK at 4x speed.
However you might want to consider getting a new DVD burner. The new Pioneer is nice. You can get the retail version at BEST BUY or the OEM version from an on-line website such as newegg.com
The retail version is the DVR-1810B (the B is sometimes left off) and goes for $64.99 at BEST BUY and if you bring your computer in and pay extra they will install it for you. That would be the only real reason to buy it there.
Otherwise the OEM version is the DVR-112D and goes for $31.99 + shipping at newegg.com

Hmm. i see. I think im best off buying a new burner. Didnt want to since i paid so much for the sony dru but might as well.
I think ill try thoes Verbatim disks then.
Now for the burner i was looking at this one:

Looks great, but under just $50 is hard to believe.
BTW, thanks all for your help. -

It is a bit amazing ... the price of current day DVD burners.
My first DVD burner was the NEC ND-1300A and as I recall it cost me just over $200 US Dollars with the shipping.
It was a great DVD burner though
