My friend works for Verizon and was given a Panasonic TOUGHBOOK 19 Notebook, with a Verizon Broadband wireless card. When he initially turns it on he can connect to the net just fine. When he is done with what he is doing he closes his laptop. Here is where the problem occurrs. When he re-opens the laptop (which makes the computer come out of hibernation mode) he is no longer able to connect to the net, even though his wireless card is showing there is service and it is working. The only way he has been able to get back online is buy restarting. He then can connect fine again.

Does anyone know why after coming out of hibernation he is no longer able to get on the net Anyone know a way to get back online, other than restarting everytime?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

    1. Upgrade the wireless LAN drivers, power mgmt drivers, and hotkeys (used by power mgmt, I guess)...... also uninstall Access Connections.

    2. turn off the wireless card's power management. (device manager->wireless driver->advanced tab...)

    3. you may need to cycle power the wireless card (switch on the front of the laptop) after wake up.

I have exactly the same problem with a Fujitsu laptop. Switch it on and it immediately finds my wireless network and connects. Allow it to go into standby and when it is woken up again, the wireless is shown as connected but I cannot access the net. I have to right click the wireless icon in the system tray, disconnect from the wireless network and then reconnect again.

I have the most up to date drivers for the motherboard and onboard wireless but it still does it. My workround for it is to mostly use it running on the mains power supply and set it so it blanks the screen but doesn't go into standby when running on the mains. If running on batteries, I just make sure it is never idle for long enough to go into standby.
