cant import file

I have a 2gb avi file I captured from a camera. When I try to import the file into premier pro, I get the import files box with the progress bar on it appearing but then nothing happens. I have managed to import other (smaller) files with no problem, but cant get this one. Any ideas? All help greatly appreciated.

Please give us more information.

can you post the details of the avi file? a dv-avi? you can identify it with for example gspot, mediainfo, etc.
how did you capture it?
can you play the avi file without any problems?
