Hey, sorry for the earlier post, I've edited out the problem

I have an .avi file which I am trying to view on my television and joined it back together using hjsplit.

Here is my question. The joined file could be played in VLC player but only after it opend and said “This AVI file is broken. Seeking will not work correctly. Do you want to try to repair it?" I clicked Yes, and it said “Creating Avi indes..." then once complete it plays in VLC. It does not work however in Windows Media Player. I want to put it on my archos so I can transfer it to the Television screen, but that only works with files that work for Windows Media Player.

Does anyone know what the difference is, and how I can repair the file permanently so that i can play the repaired version in Windows Media Player and eventually my TV via Archos Video Recorder AV420.

*as a side note, I'm not sure if its relevant, but it plays on DivX Player, but you cant drag the cursor to fastforward to any part of the file you want. maybe this will help identify the problem. simply complex...

As VLC has already pointed out, the indexing is bad. You can try DivFix or DivXRepair to try and correct it. VirtualDub could also be used. There are more tools in the Tools section, and there should also be a few guides.
