ok using ImgBurn my benq 1655 firmware is BCGB and my Lite on is LL06. Using ImgBurn to locate latest firmware it tells me for the Benq1655 is BCIB and for the Lite-On LL0A. Is this correct? Just want to know before i install. Thanks

Why do you want to upgrade your firmware? If the firmware works for you without any problems there's no need to use the latest firmware. BCGB supposedly is the best firmware to use for the BENQ 1655 drive. If the brand of dvd media that you're using burns and plays ok on your standalone dvd player then there really is no need to upgrade to the latest firmware.

Take a look at the BENQ and LITEON forum at Cdfreaks.com. I flash my BENQ drives back and forth with different firmwares because I may use a different brand of dvd media. In fact all of my BENQ drives have all different firmwares. Use good quality dvd media like TAIYO YUDEN and VERBATIM then you will have no problems.

IMHO there's no need for you to locate and upgrade to the latest firmware for your drives. Simply ignore it in IMGBURN. It wouldn't affect your burns.

The information I gave you is based on my experience with BENQ drives.
Reverse what? BENQ firmware sure you can but first you need to understand how it's done. As suggested check out the BENQ forum at Cdfreaks.com.

For the BENQ 1655 you can either use WinDWFLash program or BQFlasher program to flash your drive. The difference is WinDWFlash program you'll need to flash with firmwares that are in cvt file format. With BQFlasher you can use the firmware that's in exe format. Here's the link on how to use BQFLASHER.

Here's the link to download the firmwares that are in cvt file. You'll have to use INTERNET EXPLORER to access the website or use the IE TAB PLUGIN for MOZILLA FIREFOX BROWSER and you'll have to join that site in order to download the cvt firmwares.

I'd suggest you flash your drive in safemode and make sure you have no disc in the drive. If flashing in windows make sure you have all programs running in the background all turned off. Such as antivirus, spyware and firewall programs. For me I personally like using WinDWFLASH program with the cvt files. Some like using BQFLASHER w/exe files. As I mentioned before the BCGB firmware for the BENQ 1655 drive is supposedly the best firmware to use. IMHO I don't see why you would need to flash to the latest firmware unless you're having failed burns or something.
