I always burn my dvd's with NeroVision 3. Until now it worked fine.
I was burning a dvd but when NeroVision was half- way, I get an error.
The converting of the videofiles was already done.

I've attached the Log file to this post, can anyone PLEASE help me
to solve the problem? I really don't understand the Log file!!!!

    Flying Doctor,

Just before the burn starts, nero complains that:
Compilation cannot be written on that medium type.
(Medium in drive: DVD-ROM. Medium required by compilation: DVD R/RW.)
Nero then tries to burn anyway, but immediately the drive stops responding, and then basically locks up, so nero just stops trying to burn.

Is there any chance you could have had a pre-recorded dvd in the drive? If not, we need to figure out why Nero thinks that's what happened.

Well I do have some problems with my burn device lately, it can't read DVD-RW...
But since then I have successfully burned DVD-R, so I don't understand why Nero makes a problem of it now.

I didn't have a pre-recorded dvd in my drive. Before the burning I did but then Nero asked me to put a DVD-R/RW in the recorder and so I did. Then Nero started burning, but, as you know, Nero stopped half-way...

I don't get it. You admit that your drive is failing, but then express surprise that it suddenly doesn't work. Sometimes hardware does simply stop. Sometimes it starts to fail, and works intermittently. That yours has stopped writing to a particular type is a good indication that it is time to replace it. Why are you now surprised that it has failed on this type of disc as well ?

Burning DVD-RW and DVD-R works fine on my other computer with the same burning device...
But when I burn the same project as this one I get the same error message... (The same error message on both computers)
Maybe it's the video's that I burn? I've burned the same type of files before, successfully...

Simple test for the content - create the video to your HDD instead. If nero completes this, then the content has nothing to do with it.

    Flying Doctor,

The burn log that you posted only covers one second after the drive detected the pre-recorded disk, and then the log stops. Is there more to the log...hopefully a section that covers where the burn made it about half way through before failing? That's the part I need to see.

As an alternate...since Nero finished the content preparation phase (you have the content ready for burning), and you're using -R media, you can use ImgBurn in "Test Mode" to generate a burn log without having to risk making another coaster.

The material you burn, whether it's dvd-video or anything else, is always just a sequence of bytes with values that range from 0 to 255. Consequently, the content has no effect on the success of a burn unless it's just too big to fit on the selected media. In the burn log you posted, the material is only about 3/4 of the disk capacity, so the material isn't the problem. Incorrect content can interfere with the functioning of a dvd-video disk once it's burned, but it won't interfere with the actual burning part.

It's not surprising you would get "The same error message on both computers" from your external burner. After all, it's the same drive, and the same media.

The part of the log I posted was the end of the log.

I'm going to try to burn the project to my HDD...

    Well, no success here.
First I tried burning on my HDD, not NV3 stopped after 2 minutes.
I've tried burning another project but NV3 decided not
to burn the project, only to transcode it!

And does anyone know why NV3 suddenly keeps the same transcoding time as usual, but the burning time suddenly takes 6 hours?! It used to be only a 20 minutes burn!

    Software is working fine.

    Hardware is not.
