PANASONIC DMR EH55 EU firmware

I can't find the firmware for the european version of this DVD HDD recorder.
Does anybody found it? I can download it from the service menu directly onto a DVD ( I obtain 4 files: main.bin, boot.bin, dev.bin and drv.bin) but I can't use them for upload to the DVD.
P.S: I'm trying to change the HD

Is it really necessary to change the firmware just to install a new HD? Typically, you just replace the HD with another supported model.

as stated in the service manual, part of the firmware is stored in the HD, and it must be reloaded from the firmware CD when the HD is changed: the HD is used as a raw medium, and it has no partition (tested with linux!!)

Nobody has tried to change the disk?

If that is indeed the case, then contact tech support to obtain the firmware DVD. They should also be able to answer any other questions that you have.
