    hi,

i have a holiday video on a sony HC20 (i think) camcorder and have uploaded all the vdeo on to my laptop using Sony Vegas 6.

I have edited it all to my liking and have set up a menu using Sony DVD Architect 4.

These are my problems, i tried to Render As... the video i had made to Mpeg2 DVD Architect 4 DVD Pal Videostream but there was no sound. I then tried Mpeg2 DVD Pal and that did not have sound either, but with MPeg1 it did but I have read it gives poor quality.

Anyway I tried to prepare using DVD Architect and it had to recompress everything and then when I went to burn the DVD it did not recognise any of my blank DVDs although I think this maybe due to not knowing the difference with DVD+/- RW drives etc.

So my question is this, should I 'Render As...' again my video as Mpeg2 DVD Architect PAL VideoStream and 'Render As...' again but do an audio rendering, say an .aac file and then put the two together using DVD architect???

ANY advice would be REALLY really appreciated.

hope this makes some sense lol
    thanks

When you render for DVD out of Vegas the default templates produce elementary streams, so the video stream contains only video. You can then render the audio to an AC3 file with the same name, and DVD Architect will automatically find it when you add the video.

The most common cause of recompression in DVDA is not having the right project settings. Make sure that your project settings match your video and audio exactly - PAL, AC3 etc. If they don't, something will be re-encoded.

hi, I have prepared my video for being burnt to a DVD+R on my Dell Inspiron DVD+RW/CDRW combo drive, and when i click on burn disc (using Sony DVD architect), the following error comes up:
    'SFMMCX'-(17)
    ''-(0)
    -'HL-DT-ST DVD+RW GCA-4040N C108'-(0)
    Module sfmmcx.cpp Line 1401

    Status: ff000000
    Command: 04 11 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00
    Sense: 00 00 00
    Info: 00 00 00 00
    Specific: 00 00 00
    Extra:
is there anything i can do to fix this?

i tried burning the disc using Nero Express and used the prepared video files but this is causing my laptop to just freeze.

i have only ever used the drive to burn data/mp3/picture CDs, which works fine.

any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Personally, I would use Imgburn. Use build mode and select the video_ts folder. It will work out the rest.

i *think* tho that the problem maybe my DVD+RW not being recognised, is that what that error is saying?

if so will i not need a driver of some sort? where might i get this if this is the case? my Dell laptop is over 3 years old

    thanks guns1inger.

You won't need a driver, but your drive may not recognise the disc. You could try a -RW instead

    hi,

i downloaded Imgburn and its excellent... however, after burning the DVD, halfway through watching it it got very jumpy and the sound stutters and absically became unwatchable.

the DVD was burnt from a video_ts folder prepared using DVD Architect but was saved on an external USB hard drive... could this be the reason why the picture/sound is stuttering? Or is it maybe because my laptop only has 512Mb of RAM and only a 3ghx processor? Should I get the DVD burned on a faster machine?

    any advice would be appreciated.
    thanks

First suspect is generally media. I have no problem burning at 4x, 6x and 8x from an external HDD (USB2). Poor media will give the type of results you are describing.

www.nomorecoasters.com will give you the run-down. TY or verbatim seem to top most lists. I wouldn't touch Imation personally.
