No picture/sound when converting Mpeg1 to avi

I am trying to convert an mpeg1 clip to an avi with Ulead mediastudio. When it's saving the conversion, it shows a black box with a red X through it. When it's done saving I get the same black box with the red X and no sound when I try to save it. Wondering what i'm doing wrong. Thanx to anyone who could help.

I am sorry if I am wrong. Your symptoms suggest you may be working with a trial version of the software which does not allow you save your work.
