  1. I am looking to buy a portable DVD player. I want it to play DVD, DVD-R, CD, CD-R/RW, VCD, DivX, AVI, MPEG-4, MP3, WMA and JPEG formats. a long battery life would be nice as 2.5 hours doesnt really cut it but will sacrifice battery life for quality if the price of the player is good. I will need to play this in a car mostly so good sound is necessary.

here is what i am looking at right now. The Toshiba SD-P1850 Portable DVD Player with 8" Widescreen LCD. http://www.amazon.com/Toshiba-SD-P1850-...een/dp/B000ELC148#moreAboutThisProduct

Someone recommended the Philips PET824....It sounds like a good one as well.

If you own a portable dvd player that fits this can you give me your comments or suggestions?

I have an Insignia PDVD10 that I picked up last summer at best buy. I have been extremely impressed by it's build quality and picture quality. It was a no-name sitting on the shelf next to similar players from Toshiba and Sony and it equalled their picture quality. I decided to give it a try with the knowledge that I could always return it. Well I kept it and have no regrets. The only knock against it is that the disc spinning mechanism is loud. This may bother some but everything else is surprisingly well engineered. Check out this review of it:

I highly recommend Insignia portable players (at least this model as it is my only reference).

    Good luck.
