Hi,
I am looking to help my sister find a player.
I have a Peekton 6006 which seems great but I can't seem to find them anymore.
She wants it to play the DVD-R's I have, which contain various DIVX and XVID files.
My player says it supports divx 3.xx, 4,5 & pro, so I would like hers to also, unless it isn't needed? (I am not sure which versions are used in my files).
Any help would be much appreciated

Hi johnyccc,
Welcome to the forums.
A lot of newer DVD players support the latest version of Divx / Xvid and these machines are usually (should be) backward compatible with older versions of the codecs.
To find out which versions of the codec are used in your files, open them up in GSpot.
www.richersounds.co.uk are great for price and range, and I found them to have excellent customer support - when buying, asking technical questions, and post purchase.

Argos do the Bush DVD2051DIVX DVD PLAYER for £29.97.
I recently got one of these, and I'm very pleased with it. It plays almost every Divx/Xvid I throw at it as well as MP3 and JPEG. The picture and sound are not bad at all for the price.
The only bad thing is the player is a little noisy, there's a nasty sounding grinding noise when you load a disc, it might be just my player or cheap build quality. -
Is that one region free or unlockable mh2360?
Also, is the sound ok? I think I recall the word mono in its description -
I've just noticed that the model on the Argos website is different from the one they gave me. I ordered the Bush 2051 and they gave me a 2080, which is looks slightly different, but has the same specs.
I can confirm that the audio output from Divx files on this model is stereo, but anything more than 2 channels i cant test.
I cant find anything in the manual about what the region setting is, but other shopping sites and sellers on Ebay say that it is multiregion. If I could find a region 1 DVD test image, i could test it. -
I know a few people who have bought Cyberhome brand DVD players that were cheap and reliable, and they played a whole host of stuff (MP3, JPEgs etc.) and were easily hackable to region free.
Maybe there's later models that also support Divx / Xvid. I think Cyberhome were available in WHSmith. There is some corner of a foreign field that is forever England: Telstra Stadium, Sydney, 22/11/2003.
