I am trying to burn an avi file to DVD, but am having the following problem. The avi is from a reliable source, but the problems I am having is this. I downloaded the avi but am unable to burn it to dvd as when I try to load it to NeroVision it comes up with an Application Error referring to: The instruction at "0x006b6c44" referenced memory at "0x01503940". The memory could not be "read".

I have also tried burning to DVD using ConvertXtoDvd, but it locks up after 5 minutes. Has anyone else come up with these problems or know how to fix?

Start by using g-spot to confirm the content.
Next, open the file in vdub and scan for bad frames.

The problem is most likely related to the AVI to mpg conversion process, not the burning process.
Like guns1inger says, there's something wrong with the source AVI.
Even if you can play the AVI from end to end, this can still be true, as playback software simply ignores the occational error, where encoders require each and every bit in the AVI to be correct.

  4. Hi I had the same issue with this message:

The instruction at "0x006b6c44" referenced memory at "0x01503940". The memory could not be "read".

    (when using nero vision express3)
After using both g-spot & Vdub, what is the next step to make it work??
    Thanks

  7. what am I suppose to be looking for while its on g-spot? It says the following:

    video is CODEC xvid

    Status codecs installed

    file length correct

    Size 700mb

It shows no indication of errors.

What should I be looking for? Thanks

Update your version of Xvid to start with.

Also, try one of the free alternatives like FAVC or DVD Flick, just to see if they can encode it.
