  1. I just press the reset switch if it messes me about. And if it forms a pattern of silly behaviour, in goes the windows ME startup floppy, followed by the words FDISK.
It does what it's told then.

"Occasionally" - downgraded from "ALL THE TIME!" upon no longer using a hashed-together, poorly cooled homebrew job (AMD Duron, cheapest motherboard in the known world, etc) with a hooky ATA-133 card (which will not work in any other pc we've since tried it in, at all) for the large hard discs and a barely-functional copy of Win98SE (also seemingly accessing the large partitions with the use of voodoo). Amazing I ever got anything done.

Now I'm on XP with a very well made laptop, and it's just too reliable. Meaning I could do with the odd BSOD from time to time to force me to get off it. Instead it just occasionally has a little stop-think whilst some inexplicably critical and difficult process is taking place, like updating my virus checker with a 6kb file that downloaded so quickly the popup box was a mere flicker, or trying to print a 10-page plaintext document that needs to be in the post in less than 5 minutes. I think it just needs more memory, really, to counter XP Tablet's enormous thirst for RAM. (Vista? On this PC? You must be joking)

So my shouting is now mainly reduced to inquisitive or exasperated whining, along the lines of What ARE you doing? What are you DOING?!? Stop cocking about with whatever minor program it is you're chatting with and PRINT MY FILE!
-= She sez there's ants in the carpet, dirty little monsters! =-
Back after a long time away, mainly because I now need to start making up vidcapped DVDRs for work and I haven't a clue where to start any more!

I yell and groan and whine when it's naughty, and coo at it and tickle under its chin when it does an exceptionally good job.

    "You stupid machines!"

"You did what I told you to do!"

"Not what I wanted you to do!"

That's what I usually say to them.
Whatever doesn't kill me, merely ticks me off. (Never again a Sony consumer.)
