I burnt a DVD which played fine on my set top box, fine in my PC player, but wouldnt play properly in a friends set top box
With set tops being so cheap, would it be worth buying three different brands to use for compatibility testing?
If so, what brands would be best?
Or is there no real way of dealing with these issues?

No matter what, home made/burned DVDs will never have 100% playback.
But to give you the best odds:- * Use best quality DVD-R
* Use a reliable authoring app
