Once in a while I run into KVCD's i would like to convert to standard dvd. On a regular VCD i usually extract the dat file rename to MPG and then convert with convertXtoDVD. But with KVCD this method does not seem to work as well without converting errors and playback problems. Can someone tell me why? What am i doing wrong. Thanks
PS I looked in the guides but didnt see any on this subject.

Because KVCD sucks. It's not a format. It's just non-standard video, and that leads to a whole list of problems.

Likely convertXtoDVD can't recognize VBR in mpeg1 and tries to decompess it like any other VCD mpeg file. Simply changing the extension doesn't completely convert .dat to mpeg. I usually run such files through MPEG Video Wizard to save it with correct matadata. You can also try to directly author KVCD mpegs to DVD in TDA (it usually resamples audio to 48kHz or better to do it in a sound editor).
