  1. TMPGenc 2.5 did work in XP but in vista the image dv avi is black. The same dv avi file made in Premere Pro, can be viewed in this vista pc with other viewers such as window media player. I checked the codec in gspot and it is dvsd DVC/DV Video. Why can't this ap read the dv avi file and how can I get it to work?

I haven't had any problems opening DV with TMPGEnc 2.5 in my Vista computer. But I do have the Panasonic DV codec installed.

If you mean with TMPGEnc, you might look here for common problems and solutions: https://www.videohelp.com/tmpgenc.htm#problems

I have also frameserved from VD Mod to TMPGEnc and that seems to help it accept a file. I don't think Vista is the problem, it's more likely your file or some missing codecs or you need to set the direct show reader to a higher priority.

  5. You hit a home run Mod. The problem was in the Direct Show settings in TMPGenc. I move the priorty setting to 1 and everything works in Vista!!!! The tech support for TMPGenc could not even figure out this one. Thank you for your help and God Bless.

I've only ran into that a few times. I suspect it may relate to a codec that 'takes' over and sets itself up higher in priority than the one you are needing. But if it works now, great.
