The installation of my WinTV went smoothly, but since then, I've had issues recording.

I started getting the message "StartEncoder : No Data from Encoder" when I try to record. Sometimes it'll start to record and then freeze and error-out when I hit stop. Or it won't record at all. I'll get the message "A stream operation failed" when I go back on WinTV and the picture is blank. It actually worked pretty well for a few days, but then I began getting the message "RunGraph Failed to Run - Insufficent system resources exist to complete the requested service."

What's going on? If it's having conflicts with something on my hard drive, how can I tell? I don't have any special software for watching DVDs on my system (I normally just use Media Center or WMP11).

As for connections, my DVR-out goes into a splitter that connects to the PCI card. The digital cable channels come in on channel 3, which is also what my VCR comes in on the TV (The digital cable comes in on Video-4). In order to play on VHS on the WinTV, I unhook DVR-out and hookup VCR-in and out. There is a spot for S-Video on my VCR, but doing it that way (per the suggestion in the manual) didn't work. And I'm using Vista Premium Edition.

  2. I get the same error when I try to record anything. I'd like to know why too.

I was capturing a game today and when I went to stop the capture, I had an error message telling me there was a hardware failure and that Windows failed to save the Data and that all data was lost. Well, that was not completely true since I did have the capture on my capture drive but when I checked Explorer, my D:\ was missing.

I checked the resulting capture and about four minutes of the game was missing between the third and fourth quarter.

Almost every capture that I get from this card (HVR 1800 MC Kit) is out of sync and takes days to edit and sync. I will never buy another Hauppauge product again. I'm gonna throw my P4 machine back together with the ATI card and start doing my analog captures with it.
