  1. Ive downloaded a file from edonkey2000 and it has a mpeg extension. How would I know whether this is in a suitable VCD format to burn onto a CD ?

    You can load the mpeg into bitrate viewer. It will give you some general informations.

    Another question, has anyone heard of some software that 'enables you to burn a file (movie or whatever) onto CD-R(W) in DVD format'. This obviously would enable playback of VCD type movies on ANY DVD player.

    I was told this by a colleague in work today, is he talking out of his arse ??

  5. you can create what is called a mini-DVD. It's when you have DVD media on regular CDR/RWs. But no it doesn't mean it will work on all DVD players, actually i think less support mini-DVD than VCD, but don't quote me on that.
