Hello,
I was all working 2 days back, I converted a 720x480 mpeg2 file to VCD. But yesterday I wanted to try out some mpeg2 editor to do some cut/join which I think broke TMPGEnc. Now wheneever I open a Mpeg2 file, it only opens as 'video stream only' not video+audio. The audio file name box is blank (which should be same as video in this case) and converted file has NO audio. If I try to open the file manually in audio box, it says unsupported format. I have Stinky's mpeg2 codec, mpeg2 pluggin (m2v_vfp-0.4.6) installed, I un-installed those suspected software but still it's not working. Can someone please help. Thanks.

Most likely, you have unchecked the "System" checkbox that selects both audio and video streams. The checkboxes appear to the right of the edit boxes where you enter the files for audio, video and output. Checking "System stream" should fix it.
If it's not that, it could be that your input file is video only. How was it produced? I use Studio, and when I generate the avi the settings panel
has checkboxes for "Include video" and "Include audio". -
I'm checking system(audio+video) but it detects only video and the check mark automatically goes to 'video only'. This is the same mpeg2 file I converted to VCD 3 days back with both audio & video and at that time it was detecting both. The video has both audio & video.

Eclipse: I'm having the same problem but on some files tmpgenc doesn't even recognize the video layer. I'm using the same files I converted successfully a few days ago. If you find a solution please post it here.

Why do you want to reencode your mpg2 audio to mpg1 audio
(or vice versa)
The are the same (mp2 format) !!
I suggest you encode the video and then mux your old mp2 with the
new mpg video . It should play fine , or am i missing something here ? -
I have the same problem. The MPG2 file I was inputting was the output of the demultiplexing operation. However, the main window would say that the audio was un supported.
I solved this by trimming the first second from the MPG2 with TMPGenc merge & cut. And guess what.
It worked.
