I have .divx files (made with Dr DivX from .VOB) that have multiple audio & subtitle streams.

I want to simply shorten them (Dr DivX will only encode a full .VOB).

What software can I use to accomplish this, if any?

I really don't want to have to work on the VIDEO_TS but if this is the only way - please point me to a guide for cutting a DVD directly.

The .divx were encoded with current DivX Pro encoder (6.5.1) under Dr DivX (2.0...).

No menus or animations etc to worry about - just want to make a clip of a longer video.

    Thanks in advance,
    Nico M

simplest solution is DVD Shrink in re-author mode. Drag the title you want to keep across to the left-hand pane, select the audio and subtitles streams you want to keep, then backup the new disc to the HDD and encode from there. You can even right-click on the title and select just a segment of the video instead.

    Hi gunslinger,

Thanks. Does DVD Shrink re-encode in re-author mode? If it can slice & dice without transcoding then this would be a solution for me? Need to preserve the original streams - do you know that it does that in re-author mode? Can't seem to find a definite statement in any of the guides .....

It doesn't transcode if it will fit on a DVD(or whatever size you specify in the options).

You can manually set the compression to No Compression. If it is too big to fit you will get a warning, but you can proceed regardless.
