  1. Hello there

How can I convert the DV avi's to divX?

I capture my DV footage with Adobe Premiere 6.0 and when i try to convert it to divX with VirtualDub, an error msg comes when opening the file. It says:

Couldn't locate decompressor for format "dvsd" (unknown)

VirtualDub requires a Video For Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player are not compatible.

So if VirtualDub can't read the DV avi, are there any other programs i can use? I have tried converting it to divX with Premiere itself but the resulting divX isn't as good as those made with VirtualDub. It's quite crappy actually.

    Any ideas anyone?

  2. Try frameserving with AVISYNTH which supports DirectShow encoded sources.
