    hey, i have a group of avi files, what i want to do is create a still menu with each one listed, like a regular dvd, maybe a "play all" if thats possible,
    then i need to be able to encode them to vob's so i can burn them

    is this all possible?

    Yes. And it can be done with all free tools, but there is a steep learning curve when doing it that way.

    OR you can buy Sony Movie Studio + DVD (consumer version of Vegas and DVD Architect) and just let it do it for you. Other packages are acceptable, andf I'm sure they'll ALL get listed here for you sooner or later.

  4. Encode all the AVI to elementary MPG streams. Methods will vary depending on type and quality of AVI.

    Seperate step is author to DVD. GUIforDVDAuthor will do what you want, for free.

    Shell out $40.00 & get ConvertXtoDvd....
    You will never regret it.

    It will convert them to dvd structure, let you make a simple menu like you want, and a few other thing's, it will even burn the finished product to a dvd if you want, i personally use ImgBurn when it's done doing it thing, but it does have the option of burning built in.
