hello to all.I'm new to burning,I'm using a vaio laptop with vista. I'm using dvd decrpyter/shrink and roxio to burn. After using decrpyter, when I open files in shrink my video files are all good, but the audio has a file but its empty. When i burn all files to disk i don't have any audio, video looks great. I used the help section for the decrypter to make sure i was doing it right. I'm really lost and would appreciate any help I can get thankx.

If you mean the AUDIO_TS folder, it's always empty. It's for a future use not really defined yet. The audio is muxed(combined) with the VOB files.

I would use ImgBurn to do your burning. It's freeware and one of the best burning programs out there. It will accept ISO files or a VIDEO_TS folder. It also works well with DVD Shrink.

I'm not sure where your audio went. Maybe a Shrink setting? You can check the authored DVD to see if the audio is there by taking one of the VOBs and opening it with Gspot. Or a player like VLC can play back a VOB. All these programs are compatible with Vista.

    And welcome to our forums.

  3. I thought the Audio_TS folder was for Audio-DVD. You know, that obscure music format...

Sorry, the AUDIO_TS folder is defined for DVD-A digital audio. But there are only a very few players that fully implement that format. Two are the lower priced Meridian 596 at about $4300US and the Meridian 800 at about $15,000. You also need a audio processor and amp.

At those prices, it might as well not be implemented.

There are probably very few regular DVD players that even check to see if the AUDIO_TS folder even exists. It seems like many commercial DVDs are leaving it out entirely.

    HUH ??

I have a couple of dvd-audio capable dvd players, they have been been super low for quite a few years.
Best buy has even had a dedicated section for dvd-audio disc's for at least 2-3 years.
    I own around 20 DVD-A disc's.
They both have optical/coaxial digital output's and also 6 analog output's for use with DVD-A & SACD, but my amp's also have the proper inputs for them.

The most i paid for them was $200.00... i paid more for my first SACD player.
My pioneer DVD-A player was around only $150.00.

I've never even heard of a dvd video disc using the AUDIO_TS folder, it is designed/intended for music only audio disc's.

Although every DVD-A disc i have, on top of the hi-res audio usually MLP 5.1 audio and or PCM audio contained in the AUDIO_TS folder, also contains DD5.1 and or DTS5.1 audio in the VIDEO_TS folder for playback on standard dvd players making them pretty universal.
They have even been making DVD-A capable car systems for some time.

Here's a Harmon Kardon DVD-A player from BB for $200.00

And yes, you have to have a special player capable of playing DVD-A, that look's for the AUDIO_TS folder, mine you can go into the setup menu and select which folder you want the player to look for upon insertion of any dvd disc, as most standard players do not look for the AUDIO_TS folder as it is NOT required for dvd video playback and is not even required under the dvd spec's.
It was added much later after the specification's of dvd video disc's were set.

Although we are getting Off Topic as the AUDIO_TS folder has nothing to do with SSH1968's problem
