well, have a DVICO Fussion Hybrid HDTV card. i left the program that came with it (Fusion HDTV) to record 6 hours worth of video like i have done some other times as well with a good outcome. however this time it does not playback properly. First of all i tried playing it with media player but it refused to play past a certain point i checked the codec being used and it said Nero video. So i got elecard MPEG-2 decoder and now it plays using that codec. For some reason ive lost all audio (even for my good files that worked with the nero codec) which is a separate problem all together. Now the video plays audioless until the point discussed earlyer and starts skipping (as though it was fast forwarding) after that point. VirtualDUB refuses to open this file or any other file that came from Fussion HDTV. I want to know if this file is able to be fixed and if so, how to. plz help, thx in advance.

Try running it through MPEG2repair. It's freeware, so you've got nothing to lose.
If that doesn't work, try the "quickstream fix" feature of VideoReDo. That's not free, so if you don't have VideoReDo already, try MPEG2repair first. -
Thx heaps. what i did was try MPEG2 repair, but that didnt work, it quit half way thru. I dont have VideoReDo but i asked around and one of my friends has got it. I gave him the file (this was the hard part seeing as it is a 35Gb file lol) and he used the quickstream fix utility which worked perfectly. thx heaps.
