Be aware that discussing downloading copyrighted videos or music is in violation of our rules and will get you a warning card. Please read our rules before posting.

But with that said, Limewire is mostly a music download program. What you may be seeing a is a 'visualization' that media players like Windows Media Player creates when there is no video available, just music. Other types of programs are generally used for video downloads.

You may get better answers on a P2P forum.

    Hi cammochick,

    Welcome to the forums.

I believe the other time you get the visualisation when you're expecting a video is if the required codec's not installed but the audio can be played.

Open your file in GSpot and it'll tell you if there's a video component in the file, and whether the video codec is installed.

Re: your divx question, I'm not sure what you're asking. There are different versions of Divx. Thre's also Xvid, which is based on Divx.

  5. When I was using Limewire I occasionally shared video clips which I had created. I never had any problems viewing other things I downloaded through Limewire, but someone else I know did download some videos he couldn't watch. I guess they might have been in a format that the computer didn't have codecs for.

Another thing to watch out for when downloading (whether it be via Limewire or anywhere else) is of course malware. It's a good idea to save them to a folder and scan it first with a reliable anti virus program before attempting to open it.

  6. pretty much every machine I see come in for repair that has Limewire also has malware.

    YMMV

  8. I would use VLC, and forget about windows media player. You can right click on any video file then click properties and select VLC as your prefered media player. And like daamon noted gspot is a must have if your using different media files.

Limewire is nothing but virus and malware. be very carefull with it. I would go as far as saying 50% percent of the stuff on there is infected with malware. News groups are the way to go in my opinion.

What was the solution? It's useful in case others come across this thread with the same or similar problem.

solution was to search for a new divx player, which i did , and bingo straight away no problems, it works. Didnt waste my time looking for codec for windows media player.

oh and limewire is a waste of time, full of crock.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
