    I want to add an event to a video track, however its at the start of the film. Is there a way to insert it, and it automatically moves everything down/over? It just adds it on top of what is already there, and I would have to slide all the other event over manually?

    Evens are applied to clips. Generators create new footage. To automatically move footage around, turn on Ripple Editing. However I'm not exactly sure what you are trying to achieve.

    I want to add a picture (JPG) to the video track, at about 2 mins in. If I add it there now, it just puts it on top of the video I have there, and I'd have to slide everything else over.

    Ripple Edit. i don't have Vegas on the machine in front of me, but it is one of the icons above the timeline. Look in the help file and it will tell you which one.
