Hey, I was just wondering if most DVD players nowadays play dual-layer DVD-Rs or DVD+Rs? I just found out that my DVD player can burn dual-layer, but want to make sure that they are compatable with most DVD players before I go buy some. Also, any suggestions on what brand to buy or whether to get +R or -R? Thanks a lot!

Most recent players SHOULD play the discs, but it depends on the player. Do NOT under any circumstances burn anything but DVD+R DL discs and only buy Verbatim +R DL discs unless you want playback problems. DVD-R DL is a hokey format that was kind of forced on top of DVD-R and it has to be burned in a special way where the layer break is set manually or the disc will be a coaster. DVD+R DL is a much more robust format, easier to burn, easier to playback, and cheaper to get discs for.

Ok great, is this what I should be buying?: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8007015&type=product&productCategoryId=p...=1155848825217. Please point me in the right direction of the product I should buy and where it is cheapest. I knew these were more expensive than DVD-5, but I didn't know they were this much more, haha. Do you often burn Dual Layer? Do they skip or anything when it switches layers? Thanks!

The only way to know for sure if your player supports the DL discs, will be to burn a disc and test it. DL support is similar to SL support, some disc brands/types work fine and others don't. It is a matter of trial and error to find the best discs for your player. It is usually best to stick with name brand media for best results.

The link above for the Verbatim discs at Officemax are the recommended discs. That is also the cheapest everyday price that I have been able to find.
