Free Special Effects / Video Clips off the internet (?)

I just recorded a HighSchool Musical, "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" for a School to help raise money for their DramaClub yearly budget by selling DVDs.

There is a 3min scene where the kid playing Snoppy sits ontop of his doghouse and "acts-out" a scene where he PRETENDS he is fighting the RedBaron in the sky in an old-style prop plane. The scene is pretty daggone "DRY" and boring with the kid just makes sound effects with his mouth while sitting on the doghouse like he is fighting the RedBaron....cute for the first 20seconds but the scene goes on for 3mins

Are there any SpecialEffects videoclips free on the internet, like clouds swooshing by -or- planes fighting one another that I can superimpose on the video and SPICEUP these 3mins?

I have VEGAS6 as my video editor.

I don't have any advice on the FX, but I have to drop in to ask - do you have the reproduction rights for the show? If you didn't get the repro rights and start selling dvds of the show you could get the school in some serious trouble with Tams-Witmark. A drama department that gets caught distributing copies of a show without rights could pretty much get blacklisted by the rights houses and end up essentially shut down. Better check before you start selling discs.

Ulead Cool 3D has an effect which you can use to make an cartoon like plane fly around. Maybe you could try this and see if it suits your purposes.

I'm just having a go now to see what it turns out like. It's taking ages and it seems to be a very processor hungry application. Only 26% complete at the time of writing. If it works and doesn't crash again (yes it's done that a couple of times) I'll post a link to the results. I guess you can do it on a blue or green screen and key it with vegas onto your video.

Good stuff from Detonation films. You could also try doing a search for free time lapse footage. Almost EVERYBODY time-lapses the sky. Crop up on it and you'll have your moving clouds, maybe?

Try using this cloud image:



...in pairs, with one slightly ahead and slightly above of the other, and both moving across the sky at the same rate. It's a simple case of place them on the time line, adjust their position to be far left (or right) and then, at a later time, have their position on the opposite side.

Repeat as required.

As for the plane, Ulead Cool 3D is a good option, but also take a look at Blender.
