  1. I downloaded Media Player Classic from this site (transfers to Sourceforge website) and got an archieve with exe file inside. I've tried many ways to install the software but can't do it. When I click on the exe file, instead of bringing up the install Wizard, it immediately brings up the Media Player. But I want to install the software so that it goes into the C:/Program Files and also into the program list on the start menu. Can anybody tell me what I am doing wrong? I have installed other programs on this computer with no problem.

put the player in a folder named media player classic and move it to the c: drive program folder and just create shortcuts to the exe file to the desktop and start menu. You are not doing anything wrong. MPC does not need to be installed it runs right from the .exe aplication itself.

  3. Make a folder in C:\Program Files\, put the EXE file in there. Right click on the file, drag to where you want it on the Start menu, let up on the mouse button and select "Create Shortcut Here". You don't even need to put the EXE file in a folder -- you can left click and drag it right into the Start menu.

I have a folder called Unzipped in C:\ that I unzip all my programs that don't automatically install.

I use Windows 2000 with Winzip which automatically unzips the programs to C:\Unzipped with it's own folder...

    Example:
    C:\Unzipped\mpc2kxp6482

I open the folders and right click > Send to > Desktop (make shortcut)

From there, I drag the shortcut to my quicklaunch bar for easy access or to a Media Tools folder that I created on my desktop to reduce clutter.
