  1. Until last week I could cut the MPEG files (complete with subtitles en sound) into two halves which fit on a VCD with the MPEG TOOLS from TMPGEnc.

Now, no matter what I try, I get the error:
"at address 73f91d04, read error occurred against address 73f91d04"

I have a 1.4gig AMD with Win XP, but I encoded and cut before with XP. Without any problems.

I reinstalled TMPGEnc, I even formatted my pc for a complete clean start, but I still keep getting the READ ERROR after I press OK in the Edit Merge Item menu from the MPEG TOOLS.

    Please help me !
I'm desperate... none of the other programs work...
I tried BBMpeg but that's for multiplexing, and not simply cutting a file in two. If anyone knows a freeware program that just cuts the files into... that's welcome as well!

    Thanks !!!

  2. Man, I hope you didn't reinstall just because everything because of that error... I get that error all the time as well, and I don't think it has any effect on the outcome.

Next time you see the error, hit 'OK' which takes you back to the Merge&Cut tab - double click your MPG (or highlight it and click 'Edit'), then drag the slider to roughly where you made your original cut (doesn't have to be exact). Don't click either of the { or } buttons to reset the mark, just click 'OK' and this time the error shouldn't pop up.

But again, I don't think the error has any effect in the first place so this is all probably unnecessary...

  3. I am getting the exact same error with a new XP install. I have used it before and cut the files before so I believe I am doing it right. I have no other file right now to try it on so I can not see if its just the one file or not. When I get the error and then close TMPG I get some other funky error with a lot of characters that are unreadable on my computer. It seems though if you just say OK and then hit run it will still output the file.

  4. Yep Jledhead. You're right... the error stays with every file I try to edit, but as you mentioned, if you press ok, it will still cut it.

So the problem is solved, more or less

  5. Yip me too.

As the man says just click OK and ignore the error. Everything works as before.
