One option is to setup a Network attach storage(NAS). Files in the NAS can be transfer from 1 pc to another via FTP. There are many vendors that supplier the NAS box e.g. Buffalo, Linksys, Sarotech etc.

If they are next to each other physically, then either network them together, or get a USB transfer cable. If they are not, but you can easily go from one to the other, get an external HDD.
If you both have high-speed internet connections, you could set up an FTP server at your end and he could download them from that. You would have to way up the security and setup issues.
Is this a one-off or regular exercise ?
Something else you could look at, for an internet solution, is PANDO, a type of person to person P2P program. You both install PANDO (free), set up your files, then email a small file to the other person. They load this into PANDO and the connection begins. It can restart broken downloads, so you don't have to complete it in one session, and seems to be pretty quick. You can read about it at pando.com.Read my blog here.

in pando it says that when i send a file to a friend the file will be stored on pando servers but i don't want it to be stored there , i want to transfer it directly to my friend's pc .

According to this : http://www.pando.com/how_it_works it still supports direct person to person without parking it on their servers.
edit : it appears that all files spend some time on Pando's servers to help speed up downloads and keep availability high. This is a change since the beta version, which was direct person to person transfers.Read my blog here.

You could make the file a password protected torrent.. then send your friend the tracker file.. he can then use bittorrent to d/l the file.

Or you could still use Pando, Just use passworded Zip or Rar files. That way you can split it into parts that are passworded. Create some par or par2 (parity) files to recover from any transmission errors. The parity files are also a helpfull thing is you have important data that you want to protect against data errors.
