Hello. I have some SD video that I would like to upconvert to HD (I can put up w/ 576p). Is there any software that can do this, and if so what it is and how to use it for this purpose.

    Thanks in Advance,
    Matt.

A qualified "kinda, sorta", but it is slow and doesn't look quite right (to my eyes, at least)

If you have an player or TV with built-in hardware upconverting then don't bother with slow software solutions. The hardware will do a much better job on the fly.

Ok. I wanted to convert a SD video file into HD. I doubt that my computer would be able to handle such a task. Out of my curiosity, how much would upconverting hardware cost?

It is built-in to many DVD players and most, if not all, HDTVs. Not all upconverting hardware is equal, so be careful, especially with players, Stick with brands if this is what you are after.

It could. Slowly. But as asked before, why? What's the point?

You have the same CPU as me, but half them memory. I tested VideoEnhancer on my system, and a 90 movie took 11 hours 30 minutes to process. And that was just resizing up to DVD spec. The quality difference between video enhancer and avisynth's lanczos4resize function certainly was not a justification of the time difference. Perhaps resizing to 720p would show a greater quality difference, but it would also double the time required, so 24+ hour encodes would be something you would have to get used to.
