Did you know that only a few airliners offer built-in-seats power ports where passengers can plug in their laptops or portable DVD players?
Most airlines do have that option for first and business class, but only a few for the rest of us "economy class" people.
This is good to know if you plan to travel and would like to have some extra entertainment on board:

There is only one airliner in the world which offers power ports as standard equipment on their planes for ALL passengers - Cathay Pacific.
Major European airliners like Lufthansa, British Airways, Air France, KLM - do not have power ports for economy class, not even on intercontinental flights.

I have been on trains with power outlets, but not any planes yet. I have never been on an international flight though.
Luckily my laptop battery lasted on a Seattle to Boston flight playing movies and tv shows off of the harddrive. I have a longer battery life running the harddrive vs. the dvd/cd drive.snappy phrase
I don't know what you're talking about. -
Amtrak has actually been very pro-active in installing power outlets at your seat. It's one of the reasons I don't really fly anyone.

Warning: I have read that if you use a high power usage laptop that those plugs have issues sometimes
