Sony DRX 830U Disc brand

My Sony DRX 830U keeps giving me the error "Drive not available" at the beginning of a burn. It has worked a few times though. I contacted Sony and they told me that the only media that will work on it is Verbatim. And I was using Sony 2x DVD-RW and Taiyo Yuden 8x DVD-R. Is this possible? It sounds kind of ridiculous to me. No where on the packaging do they warn you it will only burn one kind of disc. Could there be any other solution to my problem? I just ordered 200 Taiyo Yudens.

I would call back and have a serious talk with Sony about warranty on the drive. Works with Verbatim and not Sony media? Ha!
