    Hello,

After quite a bit of searching I finally stumbled across a HOWTO on this site about splitting AVIs with VBR audio. I had been trying to do it with Virtualdub before (like I've always used in the past) but it errors because of the audio. Now that I've found a program that can split these types of files, however, I can't seem to find one that can join them. Are there any freeware tools that can join 2 VBR AVIs?

    Thanks,

    Nic

If you want to do anything to a VBR audio AVI, the first thing to do would be to replace the VBR audio with a CBR audio. things will be much easier after that relatively simple process.

Try AVIDemux. Load the clips, and when asked, create a timemap for each. I have been able to successfully join VBR MP3 clips using this method.

VirtualDubMod has the same problem as VDub with the VBR audio. AVIDemux worked great though, thanks guys.

VDubMod doesn't have the same problem. VDub ALWAYS rewrite the header to CBR causing audio skew. VDubMod gives you the option.
