  1. I want to make a time lapse video... but I want to make a 30 minute video down to 1 minute. I figure I could do this by discarding the audio and removing frames. For example:

    Remove frames 1 - 29

    Keep frame 30

    Remove frames 31-59

    Keep frame 60

    Remove frames 61-89

    Keep frame 90

And so on and so on. Is there a way I can do this, short of manually removing everything frame by frame in VirtualDub?

  2. In VirtualDub:

Video --> Frame Rate --> Frame Rate Decimation --> "Decimate by 30"

  3. Whoo hoo, can't wait to get home and try it, especially since I get to use VirtualDub to do it. I'll post my result when I'm done, thanks again!

  4. other way if its an avi would be to use AVIEdit and just delete the frames u didnt want.....

a bit more long winded than the above solution tho.

  5. Yeah that's what I was afraid I was going to have to do dizidave... I'm glad that vitualis had that perfect solution to it. Now I can start seeing how good creating time lapse videos works for me without buying an expensive time lapse camera.

  6. I suppose you could try to capture on a Pentium 75... that would probably capture only one frame in 30...

  7. mikewg,

I made a time-lapse video clip once. I don't quite remember which capture proggy I used, but I just set the "framerate" as a fraction of a second (e.g., 0.017 fps = 1 frame per minute).

Then I just used VirtualDub afterwards to change the framerate to 25 fps (or to whatever you want)... That way, you can make a timelapse video clip without capturing a LOT of redundant video...
