Okay, so I'm making a video in Pinnacle studios 10.7 but the all the text is blurry. I'm using Ariel as the font, but really any font I choose looks blurry. The file is 720 x 480 and is using the Xvid codec (I've tried it with Divx too). The text is still, and no matter what font I choose it appears blurry on playback. Now I'm playing the video on a monitor set to 1280x1024, but it even without going full screen the text is blurry. What can I do? I need to to be legible.

  2. Pick a very plain, san serif font. Make it thick, no italics. Watch the colors, contrast with backround. Sometimes a different color outline may help, also eliminate transparency.

    Make it big.

Check some readable fonts on TV commercials for a size and type comparison.

Sometimes a smoothing filter may help.

Keep the fonts BMP as long as possible. Render as AVI first and then encode. If the AVI doesn't look clear, don't bother to encode and start over.

Pinnacle may be appllying a default blur filter to the text. For TV this is a good thing because crisp straight edges will produce a flicker. Doesn't matter for computer playback.

Check the options for a anti flicker filter.

I didn't see any options for anti flicker filter.

Here's a sample video I made showing the problem
