Hi, Anyone know if it is possible to make an MP3 DVD using the guide found in the link below?
This one uses .wav/.AC3, not MP3's.

    https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=287574

I want to stay away from software that claim to make MP3 DVD's as they always downgrade the mp3 even more when they convert to .ac3.
I really want to achieve the look in the guide, full menu along with track listing and cover scan of each album.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks again.

Nope, you can't create a Video DVD with mp3 audio, as MP3 isn't in the Video DVD specs.
You can decode to wav and have 100% the same q as the mp3, or reencode to AC3 at minimal (undetectible IMO) loss.

  3. Maybe you can get away with just putting MP3 into folders.

My JVC DVD player, and Pioneer Player in my car play MP3 folder just fine.

Try that before you do additional work.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply.
Ok, one other question..... Let's say I am fortunate enough to have some of my music collection already in .flac format, what is the best way to convert them to .wav or AC3 ?
Which would be best? (I'm trying to stick with the guide requirements)
And by doing so is there much if any quality loss when converting ?
    Thanks for your time.

I've done a test recently, and even if there is some difference between the "original" mp3 @128 kbps and an AC3 @192 kbps encoded with the mp3 as source, it's hard to say one sounds better than the outher.
My favorite AC3 encoder is ffmpeggui - if it accepts flac I don't know, but if worst come to worst, decode to wav first.

Flac is not a compression such as mp3 or ac3, it is a lossless compression, it is more of a playable compression container like if you were to zip or rar something up.

You do not really convert from FLAC to wav but rather you extract the WAV file from the flac file as it is a lossless compression.

    I use T R A D E R ' S L I T T L E H E L P E R as it compresses and uncompresses many lossless formats, http://thor.prohosting.com/roh0205/

and WAV would be higher quality as it is uncompressed where as AC3 is a lossy compressed format, although it is a very good format, far above MP3.

Can you tell me if there is one piece of software that will not only extract .flac to .wav but in the process convert to 48KHz ?
