  1. Hi,

I bought a tv show episodic DVD set. When I play the episodes using the menus on the DVDs, the audio and video are in sync. Once I rip them, many of them are out of sync. When I convert the vob files to avi, they're still out of sync.

I tried using FreeDVD but I got a message that said that there isn't a DVD in my DVD drive (but there was).

When I used RipIt4Me, it helped a little and I then processed the files through FixVTS, which helped a little more, but some files are still way out of sync, up to about 5 seconds.

Is there another program that I can use to get them in sync or one where I can separate the audio and video and then put them back together so they'll be in sync?

This is no editing. Moving you to our dvd to forum.

How exactly are you playing the video after you ripped it? Just playing vobs? Don't, use a software dvd player that can play dvds from the hd by select the video_ts folder or video_ts.ifo file.
How do you convert to avi? What software? Just don't convert the separate vobs. Use AutoGK or FairUse Wizard and select the video_Ts folder.

edit: I see that you have ripped before...so maybe not any of those problems....but please include more information in your post and it's easier to help.

I'm starting to think it has to do with the joining of the VOB segments. The more VOBs joined, the more out of sync it gets by the end. Especially things that get progressively worse. It should be around the 20-22 minute mark(s) that the sync goes out of whack.

Each dropped audio frame = 31.25ms

    00-21min = perfect sync
    22-44 min = 31.25ms skew (1st VOB join)
    44-66 min =62.50ms skew (2nd VOB join+skew from 1st join)
    66-88 min =93.75ms skew

  4. I've ripped the DVD using a few different programs to see if one would work better than another. I usually use DVD Decrypter and have no problems in the past, but this one doesn't stay in sync with any decrypters that I have (DVD Decrypter, FairUse, RipIt4Me, Super DVD Ripper, DVDFab Decrypter, ImToo DVD Ripper). I've try using both the first VOB file and the IFO file but the results were the same.

When I insert the DVD into my DVD drive, a menu appears. If I select any of the episodes to play, they're in sync. Once I rip it and play one of the VOB files, it's out of sync. I then convert the VOB files using AutoGK and the avi files are out of sync too. When I use ImToo, the avi files are out of sync also.

When I use RipIt4Me, I also use FixVTS but it doesn't put them in sync as it's supposed to.

Since I've ripped and converted a lot of episodic DVDs already, I know that there's something else that's stopping the episodes from being in sync, and I know it has something to do with something that's on the disk. I watched one very carefully and saw a blip of the video that kept the audio and video in sync. That blip doesn't transfer over into the VOB files and I don't know how to create the blip myself.

That's the problem I'm facing. What I'm looking for is method to keep the audio and video in sync. I would need to cut out part of the video because the video is ahead of the audio. I think I can use VirtualDub but I'm not sure, and I'm not sure how hard it will be to get it in perfect sync.
