    Hi

I'm converting DivX so that it plays on my DVD player. I have tried the following resolutions at the moment and they all work.

    352x288
    352x240
    480x480
    480x576

I also tried 640x272 and that didn't work at all. Can anyone suggest other resolutions to try. The number of frames per second and bitrate don't seem to matter with the above resolutions. My DVD player happily copes with XVCD and XSVCD.

Please do not tell me about DVD resolutions like 720x576 etc. as I know these don't work either. Mini-DVD isn't supported for my Wharfedale M% 1.7 firmware.

    Try D2: 352 X 576
It is a very good resolution: Compatible both with svcd and DVD on most DVD players

  3. if you want better results you need a better source. right click your divx file in windows explorer and look at the summary tab. if the video data rate is lower than 125 KB/s and your video frame size is less than 352x240 dont expect very good results. the best you can do is play with filters in the hopes of preserving some quality.

if your divx file just meets the specs i stated above expect moderate results. but there will still be macroblocking.

the best results i have gotten has been with 640x480 DivX with at least 125 KB/s of data converting down to 352x240 VCD.
