Converting from AVI to a DVD(Video TS) folder

Using DVD ffmpeg gives an empty folder in a few seconds.Using DVD mpeg2enc gives an m2v and a wav file.Reading the "How To's" did'nt seem to address the issue so I converted from AVI to DivX and then from DivX to DVD using DVD ffmpeg.This way I get a valid Video TS folder-But surely there's a quicker way ?Could anybody please help ?
