Hi, I am new here. So I don't know if this question has been asked but....

I make fan made video game trailers in Vegas. After I render the video and watch it in Windows Media Player, some parts are missing and some clips aren't shown and where the clips are supposed to be shown, it is replaced by a black screen. I don't know if I am rendering this correctly. I render it in a MPEG format, before I used WMV format and it did the same thing. Here is a link to a previous video I have edited. As you can see, if you watch through the video, some parts are missing even though there are supposed to be clips.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-euq4Yfu65U That is the video.

    Help is appreciated. Thanks.

How do you capture the game footage ?
What format is it in ?

  3. Are there really supposed to be clips there, or is there unexpected black space between clips? If you preview the entire video in Vegas before rendering, watching closely, do the gaps occur?

If you zoom in real close on the timeline where the black space appears(so you can see, is there actually some empty space between some of the clips?

I downloaded the trailers in an mpeg format or wmv. Regardless of format style, it still does the same.

And yes, there are supposed to be clips there. When I preview the the video before rendering, everything looks fine. I check the gaps and there isn't any.

As you know, am I am splicing up clips and throroughly checking if there are black spaces. Sometimes when I splice up a clip, it is usually 2 seconds long so I can sync it with the song. It sometimes lags or it flickers black spaces in between.

That is the final movie after I rendered it. As you can see, some parts are missing.

I just made a trailer for the movie, "300"

some parts did not render because there was nothing to render -- there are gaps in the time line ..

also - wmv is not a very good file format for editing

I checked though. There weren't any gaps in between.

right after the beginning... i recall about 10% of the timeline from the begining -was a huge gap-- it is on another system right now so i cant check exactly..

also - some of the audio was from the source wmv, and some from another source -- but was on the same time line ..

also - you should check your quantitize to frames settings -- you might want to even overlap each begin and end of clips instead of hard cuts -- OR use a source format a heck of a lot better than wmv (convert the source to uncompressed/lossless compressed avi for example - FIRST)

I did the beginning intentionally because that is how it's supposed to be set up. It syncs with the song. I just don't know why this is a problem now. I tried another video using Windows Movie Maker and surprisingly, it turned out well.

Edit: Also, when I watch the video on Vegas, some of the clips freeze?

Also, I am unclear of your instructions.. What do you mean, Quantize to frames settings? Overlapping each begin and end of clips, source format?

You're going to have to explain these things a little more clear because I'm the kind of person that doesn't understand anything unless there is a vivid 1-2-3 step.

Sorry for being a pain. -_-
