Just installed a new BENQ 1655. Looking for firmware suggestions/links.

Will probably burn both DL and SL DVDs. Looking for quality burns with broad player compatibility.

Please let me know which firmware you suggest, particularly if it supports SL bitsetting for DVD+R. Any other suggestions greatly appreciated as well.

    Thanks.

  2. I am running Benq's BCIB firmware in my 1655 along with QSuite with excellent results so far.

Thanks Rich -- does this firmware allow bitsetting?

Probably won't use QSuite -- I've been using ImgBurn with my other drive and have become quite comfortable with it.

    Thanks.

    This drive supports bitsetting.
QSuite is not a burning program - it is a Benq utility that permits setting up the Benq drive to work most effectively - including:
. Solid Burn" to develop write strategies for media not previously set up in the firmware, and
    . booktype setting, and
    . other goodies . . .

If you want more replies regarding which is the best firmware for the BENQ 1655 check out the BENQ FORUM at Cdfreaks.com. QSUITE is a good tool to use.

    BCIB it is.

Do I just download and run the executable or is the flash process more complicated?

Also, how do I use QSuite in combination with ImgBurn? Do I just use it as a tool to get optimal settings, etc and then enter these settings in ImgBurn?

    Thanks.

just run the exe file. i'd suggest flashing your drive in safemode as well. if you flash the drive in windows make sure you have all programs running in the background disabled such as antivirus and spyware programs. also make sure you have no disc in the drive. flash the drive then reboot your pc.

you can set QSUITE first then just use IMGBURN. You don't need to set IMGBURN for QSUITE to work. happy burning!
