Does anyone know if it's possible to track the view-through rate of a WMV-formatted file? In other words, if we distribute a WMV file, can we get data about how many time it was viewed to the end, or the halfway pt., etc?

THANKS in advance for any replies!

If you host it on your site, you may be able to tell how many times it's downloaded or viewed, but not any place else, AFAIK.

Like ASF, I think WMV/WMA also support telling the default browser to load a certain webpage, if I remember correctly. (Either at the beginning or end, maybe even points in between.) You could have the page(s) set to increment a counter in some way.

Of course, like any other method, the person viewing the movie would have to have an active Internet connection. And keep in mind that quite a few people think that having their ASF/WMA/WMV files pop open a webpage is really annoying.

There's also DRM (would it require them to acquire a license from your site, or someone else's, I wonder?), but people may find that even more annoying than surprise webpage loads.
If cameras add ten pounds, why would people want to eat them?
