I have an divx avi file with 2 audio files in it. How can I seperate the audio and the video files without having any quality loss in the audio or the video?

Try opening it in VirtualDubMod, then click Streams -> Stream List. Hopefully, it'll list both audio streams there.

From there, you select the one you want and "Save WAV". Note: This will save the audio, whatever the codec used, to a file with a .WAV extension (ending) but it doesn't mean it's a WAV file. You may need to change the extension.

e.g. if the original audio was MP3, then change WAV to MP3.

  3. I would suggest you select Demux. The solely reason is some apps don't like mp3 (or ac3 or whatever it is) with WAV header.

I tried "Demux" on a DV AVI file before posting (just to check what I was saying / going to say was correct) and the (supposed) audio file I got had no extension. I put a .WAV at the end, and still it wouldn't play. That's why I plumped for the "Save as WAV" option.

However, I've since tried "Demux" on an Xvid AVI with CBR MP3 and I got a perfectly playable MP3 audio file out.

So, yes, "Demux" is the way to go and "Save as WAV" as a backup.
