  1. Hi,

I've been having a problem ripping an episodic DVD set. I've ripped and converted a few hundred files and never had a problem before. When I used DVD Decrypter and then Auto GK (using the IFO file) to convert them to avi files, there were a lot of probs with the file (audio/video out of synch and the eps very blurry even though I made each 22 min episode was 250Mb). They are clear and in sync when I play them using my DVD player. This was my initial problem.

I then scrapped all the converted files and decided to use RipIt4Me. It ripped each episode and it deleted junk files too. But when I tried to put them through AutoGk, I received a message that says "EXCEPTION: Range check error" right after it runs the compressability test. I thought it had something to do with the way RipIt4Me ripped the DVDs so I decided to settle with what DVD Decrypter and AutoGK could give me but I raised the size of each output file to 350Mb. But I get the same error message after the compressibility test. This happens if I use the IFO file to convert with AutoGK or feed the VOB file into AutoGK.

Did I ruin these DVDs or their files in some way, or is there another way that I can create an avi file with the IFO and VOB files?

  2. I decided to uninstall and delete all files/programs associated with DVDs/ripping/conversion (avisynth, AutoGk, Divx 5.x, codecs, etc,) and I downloaded new files/programs. Then I rebooted and installed the new files/programs, rebooted again and AutoGK works fine now. This might not be the solution for everyone who encounters this problem but I thought that I'd mention it here in case it could help someone.
