I recently purchased some taiyo dvds to back up some data. I burned the first disc succecsfully. When i loaded the next disc, my burned did not read the disc in the tray. It was as if the tray was empty. I tried disc after disc from the same spindle, with the same results.
I could see if the dvds were all bad, but the first one burned with no problem.
What is a newbie to do ?
Thank you all in advance for your responses!

I have the same DVD burner and have never experienced any problems - certainly using DVD+ discs.
I can't comment on the brand of discs you have tried as I have never heard of them (maybe they are USA specific) - but discs I have used and know work perfectly are TDK +R; Verbatim DVD+RW and Philips DVD+R / +RW
It is possible the writer doesn't like DVD-R discs, as I tried a cheap Asda (Wal-Mart) brand and I got an error message, but that could have been a problem with Toast rather than the NEC as it accepted the disc and didn't spit it out. -
Well seeing as Taiyo Yudens are probably the most recommended discs made they should work. Are they the 8X? The 16X TY's have been a bit troublesome for some folks. It may be worth trying another brand or batch. Does the NEC still burn CD's? A dying DVD burner will usually still burn CD's.
You could try this first. Go into Device Manager and find the NEC-> right click-> choose 'Uninstall' and then reboot. -
