  1. I can fit 3 episodes of southpark on 1 vcd.
I know how to make menu's that allow me to select each episode using the numaric (sp) 1, 2, or 3, buttons to select the episode I want to watch.
But what I'd like to do, is , be able to high - light an Icon or graphic in the menu using the navigate arrows on my remote to select then play the selection.

Also in such a menu as this could the selected item (when high lited)then display a kind of pop up text, and /or small sound clip?

    thx

  2. You cannot use the arrow keys on your DVD remote, but you can use the |<< and >>| keys (prev and next).

As for animations and such, you can create them if you use "bridging animations"...

  3. What are "bridged animations"?

  4. Take apart a good DVD menu and analyse how they do those cool animations between menus... That's what I call "bridging animations" (or animations between to screens). Star Wars: E1, Final Fantasy and Shrek are good examples of this.

You can do a similar thing with VCDs has well but you will need a flexible authoring program like VCDImager to do it. Furthermore, you may have to author the XML yourself as most of the GUIs for VCDImager won't be flexible enough...

For example, say I want to have a cool animations between menu1 and menu2 (in which they are two hi-res screens of the same menu but with different "buttons" highlighted).

I can author so that when I press "next" (as to move to the next option on the displayed menu), it first plays a quick short video clip that shows some sort of transition from menu1 and menu2 (how complex depends on your creativity and skill) and then settles on menu2.

For some info on authoring with VCDImager:

  5. I kinda figured I'd need to do all that, but w/all the authoring tools around (not to mention the guids ) I just hoped there'd be a quick fix.
    thx
